Julianne's surgery is complete and things are looking better for her. The surgeon said that her poor ventricular heart function did not look any worse (that's been her main delay in having this surgery), in fact it might actually look a little better. He also told Julianne's parents that they left a permanent pacing wire in her heart in case they ever need to hook up a pacemaker, this allows them to do so without having to open her chest again!
I know this family appreciates your prayers, and could still use them because the first 24 hours post-op are very critical. Pray that she has minimal swelling, her upper body does well adjusting to the change in pressures with the blood being re-routed, and that the rest of her recovery goes smoothly so their family can get out of the hospital soon and head back home to New Orleans.

Hi Julie-
Thank you for commenting on Lindsays blog. I am sure I will have plenty of questions to ask you and appreciate the offer to answer them for us! It is amazing how many people are effected by this with their children and how many people, such as yourself, are willing and energetic about sharing information in order to try and help other children. I actually cried when I read your comment because at the time you and your husband feel alone, even though you are not, then someone such as yourself sees that we are going through the same thing and you offer your support.
Ethan is a very lucky boy to have your and your husband! I viewed some of the pictures that you posted and I will be busy later on reading your blog for him to learn more. Was Ethan's 1st procedure "standard" or were there other issues? He looks absolutely wonderful! Also, thank you for letting me know that bit of information on the friends that you have from church that took their child to U of M. That helped brighten my day. :-) Wow, they drove, or flew, there from NC huh? That's incredible and says alot for U of M. However, technology is amazing in itself and unfortuanely sooner than later, this will probably be considered an ordinary surgery! We are blessed that you chose to contact us and I will be checking on Ethan on a very regular basis. If email is easier for you, I am willing to pass that infomation along as well.
Take care and talk soon-
Suzie
BTW: I am stealing your sign off saying....Heart Hugs...I love it! :-)
