Bonding with mom
I went back to visit Ethan after dinner at the Ronald McDonald House. A family friend, Shannon, was his nurse for the second night in a row! All the nurses have been great to work with, but it's especially great to be able to sleep at night knowing that we have personal friend looking after our little Ethan. I sat in his room for about an hour just watching him sleep. When he woke up, Shannon offered to let me hold him! I got situated in the rocking chair and she passed him to me. We spent about the next two hours together with me rocking him, singing lullabies to him, and giving him a bottle of breastmilk. I thought that getting the chest tubes and ventilator out was a major accomplishment for the day, but getting to hold him definitely was the highlight! He's been pretty gassy all afternoon and he finally had two stinky diapers while I held him and the nurses even "let" me change them. I was tired after dinner and debated on whether or not to even go see him again tonight, but I'm glad I did! God knew that I needed to be there so I could get that special mommy-son bonding time.

Cute either way, but sooooo much nicer to see him without all those tubes. What a beautiful boy. Glad you got some snuggle time. :)
Julie, I'm so happy to hear that he's doing so good! And that's awesome that Shannon Roberts is one of the nurses there for him! Praise the Lord! that's so cool! I'm so glad you got to hold him & sing to him too! I have told alot of people here about him & i know some here are starting to pray for him as well! And that facebook group "Pray for Ethan" that suzanne started is growing by the hour (right now there are 540 members!) Isn't that great that so many people are lifting up prayers for ur baby Ethan? I think its amazing & I can see the Lord is hearing our requests & giving strength & health to him so much already! Well....I'm am such a proud Aunt, & I cannot wait until i can see him next! I have his picture (the close up one) framed here on my desk in my dorm, just so i see him & pray for him every day! Well, I love you & I hope you and Dan are doing well & enjoying the Ronald McD House! I'll ttyl. -Aunt Jenny

This is our date night and we decided to read back through the blog and your notes and just enjoy what the Lord is doing in our family. thanks ytou Lord for putting your hand on Ethan through this and giving him strength and fast healing. Love, Dad
Julie,
I know that it has to be such a joy to see your little one without all of those tubes and devices. We're celebrating with you for God's special mercy! You have one tough little guy there!
Praying for more little blessings like this to come your way!
