Off the Vent!

He's off the ventilator and breathing on his own fine - with no issues after about 1/2 an hour. He's got some junk in his lungs but that is to be expected. It's coming out fine on it's own anyway. So this will be the last entry of the day unless something unexpected comes up.

I'm just catching up from your postings since Ethan's birth. I'd learned about you and Ethan through Triangle Mommies. My son was also born w/ a heart defect on 08/01/06, but we did not know in advance. (His due date was actually 08/11 last year!) He had Tranposition of the Great Arteries, and it was repaired at 6 days old at Duke on August 7. We came home from Duke on August 16 and have had five follow ups over the last year. Jacob is doing wonderfully. His whole story is posted on our blog if you are interested.

I'm so happy to hear that Ethan's surgery & recovery have gone so smoothly!! I will continue praying for him! He looked soooo pink when he was born! What a handsome little guy! Congrats also! Babies are miracles!

Wow! All this news is so fantastic. God truly is strengthening Ethan and it is wonderful to see. I can't wait to meet this special little boy. I'm wearing my blue "Ethan" band now, not only to remind me to pray, but also to thank God every time I see it for all He is doing!

You all should really take some pictures of him. I know it is hard to but some one told me that one day I would want to show Shelby how strong she really was. I took 400 pictures in the first 6 wks of her life. (Ben was pretty mad when I walked in w/ $100 worth of pictures...lol) That was truly the best advice anyone gave me. I look at those pictures and think to myself how much she has grown and all of the obstacles she has overcome. So even if you don't want to just because you don't want to remember how sick he looked, you really should!
