A Morning Surprise!

This morning as we entered Ethan's room, there were 2 nurses and a DR working over him. Fantastic news followed. They told us Ethan is doing so well that they feel no need to have him on the ventilator and would like to remove his remaining 2 chest tubes! An hour later now and the chest tubes are GONE! At noon, they'll take out his breathing tube. He reacted a little to having his chest tubes taken out - nothing that endangers Ethan - but there is one level they monitor that could be a few points higher. Pray he handles breathing on his own well. Although on the vent, he is actually initiating almost every breath, so DRs are hopeful he'll do fine on his own. I'll keep you posted. Ethan is still amazing us all. DRs project that by the end of the weekend Ethan will have no tubes or lines attached to him except for a few sensors, an NG tube for feeding him just in case he needs a few more calories than he can eat on his own, and 1 line for IV. God is being so good to Little E. Thank You Lord!
